Compliance Manager


Sonlia Fruit Pack House is a fruit packing company, situated in Wellington, which packs various types of fruit (such as citrus, prunes, nectarines, pomegranates etc.) for various producers.

The company requires the services of a Compliance Manager to take responsibility for the implementation of and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards, as well as standards regulating food safety. The incumbent will also be responsible for the wage staff’s HR function including wages payroll.

Other key performance areas will include the following:

  • Management of compliance and accreditation systems and procedures
  • Overseeing the processing of wages and verification of weekly wage reports
  • Human resources function for wage staff (recruitment, induction, discipline, policies, etc.)
  • Food safety and quality audits (BRC, FSMA, F2F, Walmart, Tesco, etc.)
  • Internal food safety inspections
  • Implementation and maintenance of Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) requirements
  • Related administrative tasks


  • Grade 12 (relevant tertiary qualification will be beneficial)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role taking responsibility for wages, food safety and health & safety
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety systems and ethical standards
  • Knowledge of labour legislation (OHSA, LRA, BCEA, EEA etc.)
  • Good planning and coordination skills
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Farm Costing Solutions)
  • Accurate numerical, analytical and accounting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)

A market-related remuneration package, in accordance with qualifications and experience, will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
