BUILDING CONTROL OFFICER

Cape Winelands

(Our client, a prestigious residential estate in the Cape Winelands (Boland area) currently has this   vacancy available.)

Key performance areas:

• Monitor and ensure compliance with building rules and regulations on residential construction sites in the estate (new buildings and major alterations)
• Ensure compliance with building plans
• Do site handovers and regular site inspections
• Address non-compliance with rules in a tactful and professional manner
• Pro-actively identify and address problems and issues
• Ensure accurate and efficient record-keeping and reporting

Requirements:

• Minimum Matric certificate and a tertiary qualification in one or more of the following building disciplines: civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, building management, construction, building surveying, quantity surveying, or other relevant field
• At least 3 years’ experience in a relevant role working with building plans of residential homes
• Knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental regulations
• Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans
• Tactful, professional, calm, firm and composed under pressure
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Valid driver’s licence and clean criminal record
